Overview of Project
MSL developed a unique workflow to enable our client to pre-verify their detailed tool install designs with the existing factory environment prior to fabrication. This was achieved by “pre scanning” in high definition the surrounding area at each of the proposed tool locations and then performing an accurate clash detection study by comparing and analysing the current site conditions (i.e. the point cloud scan data) and the proposed tool design.
Once this was complete, all required changes to the design were quickly implemented by our client who could then move confidently to the fabrication stage. This workflow ensured that all designs were clash free and fitted exactly into the existing surroundings therefore greatly improving install time while reducing labour and material costs.
Survey Requirements
-Tool location map with exact scan requirements drawn up and agreed with client
-High definition 3D scan carried out around the tool location utilising HDS scanner, inverted HDS scanner and Kinetic hand scanner in congested locations as required
-Perform clash detection analysis by comparing point cloud scan data with proposed tool design
Equipment used
-Leica P20 scanners
-Kinetic hand scanners for data capture in congested areas
-Leica TS15 & Motion tablet Hybrid system with “on site” model view and model clash checking capabilities
